Technology - Doing More With Less
Cynthia B. Leshin, Editor, MCLI
Did you know that...
Maricopa faculty and staff have access to many powerful resources and
tools for teaching, learning, and professional development
available at little or NO COST? In a time of diminishing resources,
we begin to explore different options for teaching and learning. We
think about how to use tools and resources available from our
desktop computer as well as from our college technology centers.
Internet, Electronic Forum, Maricopa file servers, and MCLI are
excellent resources available for teaching, learning, and
professional development. Accessing Internet resources is now easier
than ever with a wonderful new tool available at Maricopa called
GOPHER. In this issue, you will find out about Gopher resources now
available from your desktop computer, and learn how to research
a topic at the ASU library as
well as a virtual library that reaches around the world. Karen
Schwalm at Glendale Community
College will share more about how Electronic Forum is being used
at Maricopa for teaching, learning, and professional discussions or
meetings. Additionally, there are many resources available to
Maricopa faculty and staff located on the
MCLI file server. You will
find a listing and description of resources available on the file
server as well as a listing of "shareware" programs available. The
Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction has as one of its
missions for 1993-94 the exploration and discovery of how to
integrate information and communication resources into the
curriculum at Maricopa. Join us in this journey. Share with us your
discoveries. If you need more information or assistance, contact MCLI
at 731-8300.
