Over 200 representatives from 24 states and Washington, D.C. attended the Campus Compact Center for Community Colleges annual conference, which was held locally at the Mountain Shadows Resort from May 31-June 2. Fifty-three faculty, staff and students from the Maricopa district attended this year's conference, the theme of which was "Senses of Discovery."
The purpose of the conference was to promote and assist the establishment of service-learning programs at the community college level and to provide support to existing programs. Keynote speakers included Dr. Ira Harkavy, Director of the Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Arnett Ward, President of Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
